Top Global Breeder Set for Six Nations Livestock Expo 11-12th Sept.

Horn's multi-decadal work in selective breeding and animal genetics has positioned him as a central figure in Africa's modern livestock farming says the Six Nation Livestock Expo Coordinator Henry Kioko 

At the conference, Horn will be looking at mentoring upcoming Eastern Africa small stock breeders.

He holds  a Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric) degree from the University of the Free State, specializing in small stock, breeding, genetics, and animal nutrition. 

Key Breeding Breakthroughs

The Kalahari Red: Horn spent over 20 years meticulously selecting and breeding hardy, fully-pigmented brown and red indigenous goats. This commercially dominant breed features extreme heat tolerance, superb mothering abilities, low kid mortality, and natural camouflage against predators.

The Blackberry: Building on his ancestral expertise, Horn developed the Blackberry goat—a newer breed characterized by its distinct, glossy black coat. The breed has garnered substantial attention and rave reviews across the small stock sector. 

Other Stock: Alongside his signature goat breeds, Horn manages top-tier South African Boer goats, Dorper sheep, and White Dorper sheep. 

Modern Agricultural Impact
Horn is heavily involved in high-profile industry initiatives, including South Africa's ambitious R1.2 billion goat meat export plan. His strategy champions intensive and semi-intensive production models aimed at empowering communal farmers and expanding premium African goat meat into lucrative local and international markets.
