DVS launches KABS 2.0 Officially
The Directorate of Veterinary Services has today launched the upgraded Kenya Animal Bio surveillance System (KABS 2.0), bringing enhanced technology and a Kenyan-based approach to animal disease surveillance.
Speaking at the launch, DVS Director Dr. Allan Azegele highlighted how the new system is more advanced and better suited to Kenya’s animal health surveillance needs, supporting timely reporting, data analysis and response.
The event brought together key partners and stakeholders, including Washington State University, US CDC, KNPHI and others working across animal and public health.
There was also a spotlight on Biosafety Guidelines for Live Bird Markets, presented by Dr. Mathew Mutiira, focusing on strengthening biosafety and reducing the risk of disease transmission.
A stronger surveillance system means better preparedness and faster response to animal health threats.
