Wareen didn't accept the arid conditions as a limitation.

He invested in water harvesting. He built dams. He drilled boreholes. He improved pasture management and mastered haymaking. Water transformed the land. Pasture followed. And with pasture came cattle.

Today, Ol Maisor Farm keeps Boran beef cattle and supplies the Nairobi market. 

Eighty to one hundred cattle in a single month.

Warren did not simply own cattle. He built a system. Water. Feed. Genetics. Records. Market.

Successful beef farming is not about owning many cattle. It is about owning the right cattle. Good genetics produce faster growth, better carcass quality, and higher prices.

It is about reliable feed. Without pasture and hay, cattle lose weight. Without water, they die.

It is about proper records. You cannot improve what you do not measure.

And it is about a ready market. You can have the best cattle in Kenya, but if you cannot sell them at a premium, you are not running a business. You are running a hobby.

You might be looking at your dry land and wondering if it can ever produce anything of value. You might be thinking that beef farming requires vast green pastures and reliable rainfall.

It does not.
